Montauk, on the far eastern tip of Long Island, is the beginning of an allegedly powerful ley line that stretches though Connecticut, New York, Ontario and northern Michigan, the Hammonasett Line.

The line is named for Connecticut’s short Hammonasett River.  Along the line are numerous stone cairns, monoliths, and sacred Native American sites.

That such a powerful line begins in Montauk is fitting in that the tip of LI’s South Fork has a long Native American history.  Elsewhere in New York State, the line crosses the Hudson River between Kingston and Catskill, crosses the Catskill Mountains and moves though Oneida, Onondaga, and Seneca native lands before moving out over Lake Ontario.
